These still life paintings transform ordinary objects into something nostalgic and sentimental. They represent Caribbean life and history while featuring the flora and fauna of this tropical environment.
Caribbean sunlight broken by clear blue water is so full of movement. So are the bodies that hover weightlessly under the surface.
Landscape painting requires the artist to be fully present and engaged in the moment. These landscapes are a celebration of our island’s beauty.
Working on paper is more informal and frees the creative process. The results are often more fun and spirited.
HEY THERE!
Born on the island of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, I grew up on, in and below the ocean’s surface.
The influence of the Caribbean is reflected in my work as I continue to explore light, form and motion. Increasingly, I am drawn to capturing moments of island life using the classical technique of still life painting.
